Spring florals

Top (Kohls), Pants (Marshalls), Shoes (Sears), Clutch (Charming Charlie's), Necklace (Silpada)

I am proud to say that my husband picked out this shirt for me while passing through the petite section in Kohls the other night.  I am glad that he did, because I do not know that I would have picked it up on my own.  I actually really like it too!  It makes me feel like spring time!

I wore this outfit for a Saturday afternoon of lunch and cards with several of my girlfriends.  It was a great day.  I would like to extend a special thanks to Karen for taking these photos!

Neutrals and Metals

Shoes (Purchased in Turkey), Jeans (JC Penney), Purse (Charming Charlies), Tank (Old Navy), Cardigan (Anne Taylor Loft), Necklace (Silpada)

I have to tell you that this is my FAVORITE cardigan and my FAVORITE necklace.
My clone convinced me to buy this cardigan on one of our shopping expeditions!  It was a little more than I would spend on a piece of clothing, but she was right.  I have worn this so many times that it was TOTALLY worth it!
The husband gave me this necklace for Easter a few years ago.  I looove all the different types of metals in it.  It is so versatile!

Can you guess

What is inside this adorable little pourch???
(Um, obviously you are not allowed to guess if you gave me this magnificent present ;-)).

Leave your guess in the comment section below and stay tuned to find out the answer :-).

Picture A Day: A piece of jewelry from your grandparents

I am pretty sure one of my grandparents gave me this cross necklace.  Below is the outfit that I wore it with.  PS Don't mind the scar, it is just a souvenir from the open heart surgery I had when I was four years old :-).

We Interrupt this Picture A Day for some Pink news!

So, I have always wanted to have a not so natural hair color be a part of my hair color.  As I approach 30 I decided to seize the day...and do it!!!
Subtly, of course.  I would not want to lose my minister job :-).
So, here I am easing into the pink.  I love it.  I think my hair stylist help me make an great subtle entrance into the world of pink hair :-).

I call this my professional pink look.

Now for the outfit I wore to get my pink....and my first gelato of the season later this evening.

Shirt, Cardigan, and Jeans (JC Penney), Shoes (Sears), Purse (Target),

Picture A Day: An outfit you wore on a special day

Dress (Charlotte Russe), Jacket (JC Penney), Shoes (Payless)

I wore this jacket for the first time when I was elected to serve on the Board of Trustees for a very special organization.  I felt that it was a special jacket for a special occasion.  For this particular outfit, I was just going to work :-).

Double Dose of Picture a Day

Since I did not post yesterday, here is your double dose picture a day.

First: a cute skirt

Skirt (H&M) Belt (Stein Mart) Boots (Charming Charlie's) Shirt (Gap) Scarf (gifted)

Sadly, this pic did turned out a lil' blurry, and I am not sure what my facial expression was about....so really you should focus on the skirt :-)

Second, picture a day: cute socks

I had these one under the boots :-).  I am not sure where they came from, but I heart them!

Picture a Day: A Cute outfit of yours

Jeans (Levi), Shirt (JCPenney), Shoes (Old Navy), Bag (Gifted)

I love red!  Also, I loooove this new bag my mom bought for me.  I like how it is all about New York City (my favorite place...well tied with Cape Town South Africa).  I also like how the neon colors pop out of the black background.  I wore this outfit when I broke my fast from shopping!  Anytime I go shopping I like to look pulled together, but still be comfortable.  I see no need in fixing my hair so I let it air dry and I never put make up on.  My philosophy is what is the point in doing hair and make up when you are just going to be pulling close over your head and face all day!  I rest my case!

I also think it is a great time for my hair and face to detox from products, makeup, and heat.

Post Lent shopping extravaganza!!!

Super excited about the chance to break my shopping fast!!!
I had an amazing day finding all the things that I have been looking for for forever i.e. red pants, red skirt, red flats....red is harder to find than one might think.

Here's the run down of my deals.

Ross Dress for Less
*Purple dress $6.99
*Clutch $6.99
*Red flats $11.99
*Strip top $7.99

Stein Mart
*Pink necklace $4.99 (I had a $10 off coupon).

Marshalls
*Pink pants $19.99
*Red Pants $19.99
*Red skirt $16.99

Really excited to get all these GREAT items for under $100!!!!
So basically, I have no more shopping money for the month, but really....what else do I need?!

Picture a day: Most expensive article of clothing

I do not have expensive clothes.  I like to shop clearance.  However, my most expensive section in my closet are my suits.  I normally pay around $69.99 for a suit.  Which really is expensive to me.  I wore a suit as a party of my Easter Sunday ensemble.

Suit and shirt (JC Penney), Clutch (Charming Charlie's), Bracelet and Earrings (Stein Mart), Heels (Payless)

And now for some randomness...
My Easter basket (I am not really big on sweets so the husband gives me munchies!)

Easter shaped cookies made by my mom on our decorated table.
I can honestly say that all those cookies have now been officially eaten (and it only took about three days for this to happen).

Picture A Day: A Pair of Pants That Aren't Jeans

Pants (Target), Shirt (Charlotte Russe), Blazer (B. Moss), Bracelets (Charming Charlie), Earrings (Stein Mart), Necklace (purchased back in 2003...can't remember where it was purchased).

Normally I always gravitate towards jeans on my days off, so this challenge helped me bust out something a little different for hanging out with the girls today!  I always get a little nervous when I wear white bottoms but love the look too much to shy away from wearing them!

Wear your favorite pair of jeans

Jeans and shirt (JCPenney), Cardigan (New York & Company), Shoes (I purchased them while in Turkey a couple of years ago...an amazing trip to see amazing people that hold a very special spot in my heart :-)...miss you!).

These truly are my favorite pair of jeans!  In fact, they are my jeans sent to me from God I think because they were the right size and I found them for about $20.  You cannot tell from this pic, but they are actually skinny jeans.

This outfit was perfect for running around the mall to find my husband presents for his Easter basket.  It was very difficult not to look at anything for myself, and I am very excited to break my shopping fast on Monday!

What I want.....skinny pants in either red, coral, pink, yellow or green, a colored blazer, and a neon/nuetral combo purse!

I would like to leave a final note stating for the record that I am so disappointed in the new JCPenney!  They only have sales now on the first and third Friday of every month, and their merchandise selection has decreased.  I was so devastated when I found nothing for my husband in there today, and I normally find multiple clearance items for myself and husband when I shop in there.  This truly may be the ending of my love affair with JCPenney.

Something gifted/Something new

Yesterday, my challenge was to wear something gifted.  So, I wore this bracelet my mother recently purchased for me from Avon.

I especially love the owl in it!  I heart hoot owls.  Over the past couple of weeks I have been to five funerals.  I wore this bracelet to funeral #5 with a black dress and silver heels.  I carried a black bow clutch purse, and I wore silver studs in my ears.

Today, my style challenge was to wear something new.  I chose this lace top that I purchased at Marshalls a bit ago.  Since today is Maundy Thursday, I dressed up to participate in the Maundy Thursday service at my church.  We ended up wearing our robes for the service, but I still felt super classy and appropriate underneath....oh yeah and lacey! :-)

And check it out....I wore the avon bracelet again today.  It has actually been on my wrist all week.  What can I say...I kind of love it!

Although, I think I will tuck it away in a drawer before long....I feel that some navy is on the horizon!  (oooo could it be that I just dropped a hint about my Easter Sunday ensemble?!)  Guess you will have to keep reading to find out!

My Favorite Shirt

Today's style challenge was to wear my favorite shirt.  After debating over my closet last night I decided on this one!

Shirt (TJ Maxx), pants (JC Penney), Shoes (Target), Purse (Charming Charlie's)
I love the detailing on the shoulder!
I purchased these gold heels to wear in my best friend's wedding and obviously a few other places as well!

I think I like this shirt best out of all of my shirts because I like how it ties at the waist and I love the bright blue color.  I do not have anything else this color really in my closet.  The shirt just always makes me feel happy!  I wore it on the way to our vacay in New York City last year, so it also brings back memories of a great trip!

"Red"y for work!

Flats (Payless), Skirt (Marshalls), Tank (Old Navy), Cardigan (New York & Company), belt (Stein Mart), Watch (Penelope), Bracelet (Avon).

Today is the fourth funeral I have been to in two weeks.  Several members from the church I work at have died recently.  So today I wore this to celebrate the life of an amazing lady who had strength, joy, energy, humor and great work ethics!

On another note I am about to participate in a series of style challenges for the month of April.  I am excited!!!

The challenge is call Page A Day and you can read it at atherbest.blogspot.com
