Sleeping Beauty

Remember the scene in Sleeping Beauty where they could not decide whether the dress should be pink or blue?  Well, today I chose not to make a choice.  Instead, I wore both colors :-)

Tank (Old Navy), Shirt (New York & Company), Jeans (Levis), Shoes (Payless)

Today I wore this outfit to work.  We had our children's annual Easter party and egg hunt at the church.  It was a lot of fun hiding Easter eggs for the children and watching the children find them.  I also wore this over to the home of some friends for dinner.

It was a great day!

Spice up black with a bold Color and a little bit o' print

Dress and Shoes (Target), Purse and Tights (Charming Charlie's)

This year for Christmas I asked the husband for some colored tights.  Yes, that's right...some women want diamonds, some cruises, me...just some fun tights!
When I opened these up on Christmas day my they exceeded my expectations of what the husband could pick out for me.
Who knew he was such a good shopper?!

Side note: I love The Wizard of Oz so clearly my wardrobe would not be complete without my own pair of ruby slippers even though I look more like a wicked witch than Dorothy :-).

What I would do with this Tasha Delrae blouse

I absolutely love this sweet lace blouse created by fellow blogger Tasha Delrae.  If money was no object, and I was not in the middle of a shopping fast.....this is what I would pair with it!

GO GREEN!!!

 Tights (Charming Charlie's), Heels (Payless)
Everything else about this outfit is so old that I do not know where it all came from! :-)

I decided to wear this to church the day after St. Patrick's Day.
I thought the magenta hued tights and other colors would cheer me up since I find the day after St. Patrick's Day to be so depressing!

Skirt and Sweater (Target), Bracelet (Purchased in Ireland)
This seemed like the perfect week day work outfit, and I wore it to our final parenting class.

Inspiration t-shirt!!! :-)

Shoes (Payless), Top (Forever 21), Skirt (Marshalls), Purse (Charming Charlie's)

All in all it was a great 31 days o' green.  I had to leave a couple of t-shirts out.  One was a lime green t-shirt that promotes where I work.  The other was a t-shirt that reads "A Wise Man Once Said I Don't Know Ask A Girl."  The husband "accidentally" deleted this pic from his camera.  Coincidence...I think not.

Hope that you enjoyed all the green, and maybe next year you can take the 31 day green challenge along with me!

t-shirt advertisements

No need to get fancied up this weekend.  After arriving home from work at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday night I haven't left the house!  That is right I was home all day Friday and today.  Perfect weekend to me :-).

On Friday night we hosted some new friends over for dinner and had a FABULOUS time!
Tonight the husband and I had a nice date night at home complete with dinner and a movie.

Both these shirts advertise two of my favorite things....the Chicago Cubs and Fredericksburg VA (which is more of a place and not a thing :-)).

Today is officially the last day of the Green Challenge.  I still have some more pictures to post here.  However, tomorrow I will slip back into the world of other colors :-).

Wore this outfit to the second week of the parenting class the husband and I have been participating in. I am not exactly sure why the top pictures is so distorted...but sometimes I'm a little distorted so I guess it is ok :-).

Since St. Patrick's Day is over you may find yourself with the blues!
Beat them by looking at these super fun St Patty's shirts!

(Ok, so this isn't St. Patty's Day related, but it is green!  Also, Mary Washington always makes me happy!)

Someone made me these cute earrings and gave them to me this week!

Until next year....goodbye Shamrocks!

HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY!!!

Skirt (Target), Cardigan (New York & Company), Top (Old Navy), Shoes (Gifted), watch (Gifted), Bracelet (purchased in Ireland), Purse (Charming Charlie).

This St. Patrick's Day I actually had to attend a funeral.  It was out of town, so I needed something comfortable yet appropriate.  I chose this outfit.  When we got to the funeral home I buttoned up the top three buttons of the cardigan to cover up the shamrock, so it looked like I was just wearing a green shirt.

Later, once we got back home I swapped the skirt out for denim shorts and celebrated THE BEST day of the year with great friends!

Hope you had a WONDERFUL day!!!

Inspiration

It would not be March Madness (aka 31 Days of Green since well let's face it I haven't been a basketball fan in years) without my BSU Creative Ministries tshirt from 2001-2002.  Yes, I know it is way old.

However, since it was Sunday, I thought I would provide you all with a little word from the Bible!

February 28
I got these cute flip flops with shamrocks inside from Old Navy!

I love my BSU/college shirts, and I just cannot bring myself to part with them.  My clone has teased me with the idea of tuning them into a quilt.  I am thinking that I may be able to get on board with this...but I would really miss wearin gthis green shirt.

Hakuna Matata

Tonight my parents, the husband, and I went to see the production of The Lion King!  I had heard amazing things about the show, and I have some really deep emotional connections to it.  That being said, I knew I needed to wear a special outfit for a special night while still wearing green.  Below is what I chose!

Dress (Marshalls), Cardigan (New York & Company), Leggings (Forever 21), Shoes (Payless), Sunglasses (Kate Spade), Purse (Charming Charlie)

For the show tonight I switched the big purse out for a little black bowed clutch.

FYI I bought this dress four years ago to wear to my wedding rehearsal! :-).

PS the show was AMAZING!

Lent Lust

Last night I sat down to update my blog with my ipad for the first time.  I had finally found the adapter for my camera, and right as I began to post the pics to this blog, I realized that I needed an app that would cost me $2.99.  Devastation!!!!!
You see this year for lent my clone and I are not buying anything for ourselves (other than food) and so I am not allowed to buy this app until after Easter which pretty much means that I will not be able to blog from my warm and cozy bed until after Easter
*sigh*

Until then....here is what my wardrobe has been up to.....

February 29th
Cardigan (New York & Company), Shirt (Old Navy), Pin Striped gray pants (Stein Mart), Heels (Payless)

I wore this on a long work day Wednesday.  My goals for Wednesdays are to look professional yet comfortable all at the same time!

March 1st
Dress (Stein Mart), Cardigan (Target), Dress (Stein Mart), Leggings (Charming Charlie), Flats (Payless)

I wore this outfit to work and to an important deacon's meeting.  I looove these leggings (especially the sparkes in them).  The first time I saw them at Charming Charlie I decided not to spend the money.  However, after 24 hours of thinking about them I went back for them.  The store employees said they had all been sold, but one of my youth from the church who believed that I had just seen a pair helped me find them.  Success!!!!  And I am soo glad I finally did get to spend my money on them.

Exhausted!!!!!

Today was a super looooong Sunday.  Typical Sunday morning of Bible Study and worship.  Then I went back this afternoon to practice a duet I am singing next week in our Sunday night worship service.  Then I taught an adult Bible Study and spent some time with one of my fabulous youth.  Even though I had a really restful weekend, when I got home today I felt as if I had been working nonstop for weeks!  I attribute this to the fact that I am such an Introvert that had just lived and Extrovert day!

Anyways, below is the most photogenic energy I could muster up for these pics.

Shirt (Target), Cardigan (Target), Pants (JCPenney), Ring (Charming Charlie)

Sorry, but I had no energy to put back on the black heels I had been wearing all day long.  To church this morning I wore the top combination with a black skirt, black tights, and black heels.

I am in love with owls these days, so I was super excited when mom purchased this ring for me one day when we were shopping together at Charming Charlie.

For now, off to bed!
They are calling for snow tomorrow....lots of snow would make my day!  And give me a chance to recover from my Sunday.

Have a great week!

PS Check out the shamrock lights hanging up around the window in the background of this picture...Oh yeah we TOTALLY decorated inside and out this weekend!

Bright as Yellow

The original plan was to wash this cardigan before I wore it, so that I could shrink it a little before wearing it.  However, today I just could not leave it in my closet.  I had to wear it!
Shirt (gifted) Jeans (JC Penney) Boots (Kohls children's size), cardigan (Forever 21)

I love how the angle that husband is shooting this picture from makes me look super short!

Back in November, I planted my very first bulbs ever.  Husband loves to garden, and it inspired me to try.  Today, one of my first flowers bloomed.  Below is husband modeling it for you!

Tonight I had a reunion with my college roommate and suite mates.

Mercer Suite Sophomore Year
Love you guys!!!

HAPPY MARCH!!!

So excited that March is officially here!
Now, not only can I wear green, but I can bust out my shamrocks too!!!

February 26th
Pants (JC Penney) shirt (Old Navy) Sweater (gifted) earrings (penelope)

This past Sunday was an extremely long Sunday for me.  For the first half I had a training breakfast, Sunday morning Bible Study with my youht that I teach, and helping lead in worship.  For Sunday morning instead of pants I wore a brown skirt and brown suede boots.

I switched into pants for the second half of my day.  I went back to work after a mini break and taught an adult Bible Study and met with one of my youth.

As exhausted as I was when my hubby took this picture of me I look pretty happy...why...because we were about to watch a new episode of The Amazing Race

 February 27th
Pants (JCPenney) Tank (Old Navy) Button Up Shirt (Gifted to me by my clone :-)) Purse (JC Penney) Shoes (purchased in Kesan Turkey when husband and I traveled there :-)).

We had pretty warm weather this psat Monday, and I was so tempted to bust out my brights.  However, I held back and just added a smidgy of brights.  Not spring yet :-).  I adore this purse.  I purchased it last fall before traveling to Ireland.  For some reason I have this crazy idea that I have to purchase a new purse because I do not have one that is appropriate everytime I go on a trip.  Anways, this very versatile turquoise purse was on a clearance rack, and I only had to pay $8.00.  Great score!!!
